IU's McConahay appointed Technology Conference Director

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Mark M. McConahay, senior associate registrar at Indiana University in Bloomington, recently was appointed by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) as technology conference director. McConahay is a regular presenter on topics relating to student services and the implementation of administrative information technology.

"I am honored to have been nominated and appointed to this position," McConahay said. "It is a privilege to work with colleagues sharing a common purpose -- to leverage and integrate technology into our student academic and administrative service support environments.
"Our role as admissions and registrar professionals is to support the academic mission of our institutions in a way that enables the faculty to concentrate on the fulfillment of instructional and research responsibilities, and the students to be successful in their pursuit of educational objectives," he said.
McConahay joined the Office of the Registrar at IU in 1982 and is a recognized leader and consultant in the assessment of technology deployment and student academic services support structures.
"Mark has been instrumental in maturing IU's delivery of services to our faculty and students," said Roland Coté, associate vice provost for enrollment management and registrar. "His collaborative approach in working with colleagues in the Office of the Registrar, Enrollment Management and with IT professionals to develop and implement solutions in response to new initiatives has been invaluable.
"And his contributions to our colleagues across the country have also enhanced how IU is perceived as aggressively seeking solutions to problems we have in common with them," Coté added.
McConahay has published several articles and given presentations throughout his professional career at IU, and collaborations with his colleagues and IT professionals at IU have garnered awards over the years. McConahay also has held leadership positions in several international professional organizations devoted to the integration of information technology in higher education administration systems and services.
AACRAO is a nonprofit, voluntary, professional association of more than 10,000 higher education admissions and registration professionals who represent approximately 2,500 institutions in more than 30 countries. The annual AACRAO Technology Conference brings together technology practitioners and managers from admissions, bursar, enrollment management, financial aid and registrar organizations, as well as from central IT departments supporting student services offices to share ideas, information and solutions.
