Results from the 2006 Science Olympiad National Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Approximately 2,400 students from 60 teams and 46 states competed in this year's Science Olympiad National Tournament. Results from this weekend's competition are now official and final.

Teams from Georgia and California won top prizes in their middle school and high school divisions, respectively.

Members of the Division C (overall) 1st place team and individual 1st place winners of each Division C event also won scholarships to attend Indiana University. In-state students will receive the maximum Dean's Scholarship, currently $5,000 per year, renewable each year for four years. Out-of-state students will receive the maximum Faculty Award, currently $7,000 per year, renewable each year for four years. Teams that placed 1st through 6th in both divisions received trophies for their stellar efforts.

First through 6th place winners of individual events won medals. Both Alaska teams, Teeland Middle School, from Wasilla, and Chugiak High School, from Eagle River, were given special Spirit Awards to honor their sportsmanship.
