This issue of 24 SPORTS/1 TEAM gave an update of how IU teams and individual athletes competing through semester break fared. Also highlighted were IU football players success in the classroom, those athletes who graduated this past December, and former Hoosier Chris Dielman, now with the Dan Diego Chargers, who was selected to play in his third Pro Bowl. IU's Mutsa Mutembwa named Rhodes Scholar

Mutsa Mutembwa, an IU field hockey player from Zimbabwe who was named a 2010 Rhodes Scholar, was featured in this issue of 24 SPORTS/1 TEAM. Also read about one former athlete's "proudest day as a Hoosier," an article by pediatrician Amy Metheny, a former IU women's basketball player who brought one of her patients, a 10-year-old boy with Hodgkin's lymphoma, to Bloomington to spend a day with the IU football team. Sarah Pease -- Walk-on to All-American

The Dec. 2 issue of 24 SPORTS/1 TEAM told the story of Sarah Pease, who as a high school athlete, finished next-to-last in the state track meet in the 3,200-meter run. She walked on to the IU cross country team as a freshman, and now a junior, she is an All-American cross crountry runner. The issue featured All-Big Ten picks for football and volleyball and the IU football program's season-end award winners. Also, read about IU golfer Ren Han, the first Chinese-born athlete to play men's collegiate in the U.S., and Jori Davis, IU women's basketball "superwoman."   Full Story >>

Indiana's rugged Derek Elston

The Nov. 18, 2009, issue of 24 Sports/1 Team featured Jeremy Gray's column on Derek Elston. "A sturdily built 6-9, 220 pounds, Elston ran with the guards, effectively put the ball on the floor, ripped down rebounds, and passed very well for his position," wrote the IU assistant athletic director for broadcast services in his column. "He just looked like a basketball player." This issue also featured nine new baseball recruits, men's soccer in the NCAA championships, Athletic Director Fred Glass announcing football attendance milestones, Hoosier football players receiving academic honors, the women's cross country team qualifying for the NCAA national meet, and a trip to the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis by the IU women's basketball team.   Full Story >>

The IU men's cross country runners finished in the top 10 recently at the Paul Short Run in Pennsylvania, beating ranked teams such as No. 7 Iowa and No. 19 North Carolina State.
