MEDIA ADVISORY: IU Maurer School of Law Naming Ceremony
WHAT: The official naming ceremony for the Indiana University Michael Maurer School of Law. The Law School will celebrate a $35 million gift from Michael and Janie Maurer, which is devoted entirely to student scholarships. A reception will follow the ceremony, including a performance by two-time Grammy Award winner Sylvia McNair.
WHEN: Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at 5 p.m.
WHO: President Michael A. McRobbie, Michael Maurer, Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson, Dean and Val Nolan Professor of Law Lauren Robel, C. Ben Dutton Professor of Law Fred H. Cate, IU Student Trustee Abbey Stemler, and Judge Sarah Evans Barker of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana are all scheduled to deliver remarks. Hundreds of guests are expected to attend.
WHERE: Indiana University Auditorium, 1211 E. Seventh St., Bloomington.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: McRobbie, Michael Maurer and Robel will be available for brief interviews beginning at 4:30 p.m. inside the Auditorium. The media are invited to cover the ceremony, but those wishing to conduct interviews with featured speakers should meet by 4:15 p.m. at the backstage entrance on the north side of the Auditorium.
