BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University Opera Theater announced today (Oct. 21) that its second production of the season, Roméo et Juliette by Charles Gounod, will be video-streamed live from the Musical Arts Center on Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31 at 8 p.m.
The stream may be accessed at https://music.indiana.edu /iumusiclive and adds to a collection of numerous opera, ballet and orchestral productions previously streamed live by the IU Jacobs School of Music, which are available on demand at its IU Music Live! Web site.
The site also includes a cross section of archived performances by Jacobs School faculty and students in the form of podcasts, MP3s and more.
IU Opera Theater has produced Roméo et Juliette only twice before, in 1966 and in 2005.
This lush work will be stage directed by guest Michael Ehrman and conducted by guest Ronald Zollman, with sets and costumes designed by Jacobs Professor C. David Higgins in 2005.
Tickets for the Oct. 23 performance, which is general admission, are $25 ($12 for full-time students of any age with valid ID). Tickets for all other performances are $15-$35 ($10-$20 for students).
