2010-11 IUAA Scholars recognized

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana University Alumni Association Scholars program, now in its 16th year, awarded 28 $1,000 scholarships to IU students. Each recipient is the son or daughter of an IUAA member.

IU License Plate

Two scholarships are designated for qualifying applicants from each of IU's eight campuses, and the remaining awards are given on an at-large basis. Scholarships are granted based on academic achievement and financial need.

The IUAA Scholars program is supported by fees collected from the sale of IU's collegiate license plate -- the most popular collegiate plate in Indiana.

This year's scholarship recipients are:

  • Amy Arehart, a senior at IPFW, from Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • Christopher Arnold, a junior at IUPUI, from Indianapolis
  • Hubert Branstetter, a freshman at IU East, from Laurel, Ind.
  • Abigail Brewer, a freshman at IU Bloomington, from Danville, Ind.
  • Kristina Brock, a sophomore at IU South Bend, from Osceola, Ind.
  • Emily Browning, a freshman at IU Bloomingtion, from Indianapolis
  • Debarshi Das, a freshman at IU Northwest, from Munster, Ind.
  • Joanna Fearing, a senior at IU Bloomington, from Bloomington, Ind.
  • Mitchell Hall, a freshman at IUPUI, from Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • Hope Hammond, a freshman at IUPUI, from McCordsville, Ind.
  • Deborah Ineich, a freshman at IU Bloomington, from Garland, Texas
  • Nicholas Jacobs, a junior at IU Bloomington, from Bloomington, Ind.

Including this year's scholarships, the IUAA Scholars program has awarded 282 $1,000 scholarships in 16 years. In its history, the IUAA has awarded more than $4 million in scholarships to IU students.
