BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana Memorial Union Board and Spirit of '68 Promotions have announced that award-winning indie-rock band Vampire Weekend will perform at IU Auditorium on Monday, Sept. 6, at 7 pm.
The band was created by a group of four former Columbia University students. Vampire Weekend rose to fame after the 2008 release of its critically acclaimed self-titled debut album which has sold more than 500,000 copies to date.
The album was named one of the "Top 100 Greatest Albums of the Decade" by the online magazine New Musical Express and the band was named Spin Magazine's Best New Band of 2008. In 2010, Vampire Weekend released its sophomore album, Contra. Contra debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200, a feat matched by just 12 other independently distributed albums since Nielsen Soundscan began recording data in 1991.
"Vampire Weekend is a band truly in the prime of their career," said James Still, concerts director for Union Board. "They are one of the most talented and popular bands of today and a true favorite among IU students."
Tickets are $32 for students and $35 for non-students. Student pre-sale begins Wednesday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at IUauditorium.com and the IU Auditorium Box Office. The public on-sale date is Friday, June 25, at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the IU Auditorium box office, IUauditorium.com or ticketmaster.com. Bursar billing is available for all IU Bloomington students through IUauditorium.com and the Auditorium Box Office.
