Sept. 21, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music will revive a favorite Bloomington concert series with "Sunday Chamber Music in Auer," returning to Auer Hall Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. The chamber concerts feature Jacobs faculty members and guests.
The Sept. 26 recital will feature Mary Ann Hart, mezzo-soprano, and Jean-Louis Haguenauer, piano, performing Schumann's Liederkreis, Op. 39; James Campbell, clarinet, Stephen Wyrczynski, viola, and Haguenauer performing Kurtág's Hommage ŕ R. Sch. and the student Kuttner Quartet with Haguenauer in Brahms' Piano Quintet in F Minor, Op. 34. The March 27 concert will also feature Jacobs faculty members.
The Jacobs School of Music performing faculty is known for playing chamber music concerts in major series throughout the world. These musicians passionately believe that the chamber music repertoire is at the heart of the Western musical tradition, inspiring composers to write some of their most intimate music.
Other Sunday chamber music concerts this season include the Johannes Quartet Oct. 31, the Chamber Orchestra with the University Singers Nov. 21, the Pacifica Quartet Jan. 23 and Chamber Orchestra concerts March 4 and April 3.
