FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 25, 2011

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Zipcar, the world's leading car sharing service, has announced a special "Welcome Back to IU" promotion for new members from IU that sign up for Zipcar's services now through the end of February 2011. The Zipcar fleet on the Indiana University Campus now consists of five cars: two Honda Insight hybrids, two Toyota Prius hybrids and one environmentally-friendly Honda Civic.

The conveniently located cars are available for use 24 hours per day, seven days per week and are available for use by all faculty, staff and students ages 18 and older, as well as members of the local community over the age of 21. Gas, insurance, up to180 miles per day (24 hours), reserved parking and roadside assistance are included in the low hourly rates. Reservations can be made online, by telephone, or also by using Zipcar's iPhone.

During this promotion, which lasts until the end of February 2011, IU affiliates can join Zipcar for the reduced rate of $35 per year and receive $45 in driving credit to be used during the first month of membership. When you sign up, enter the promo code backtoschool2011 in order to get the $45 driving credit. To sign up, please visit: https://www.zipcar.com/iub.

Members of the community not affiliated with IU can become Zipcar members at a slightly higher rate ($25 application fee and a $50 annual fee) but will not be eligible for the driving credit. All members 21 years of age and older have access to Zipcar's network of more than 8,000 cars in urban areas and college campuses throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

"In addition to helping IU reduce its overall carbon footprint and demand for parking, Zipcar provides students, faculty and staff with a cost-effective and convenient transportation option that eliminates the need for them to bring their own cars to campus -- but gives them on-demand access to wheels when they want them," said Matthew Malloy, vice president of Global University Operations at Zipcar.
