The Indiana University Office of Sustainability today announced the recipients of the Sustainability Research Development Grants for the 2011-12 academic year. Two teams of Indiana University faculty and graduate students will explore the conditions for successful implementation of low-carbon distributed energy programs in developing countries and the use of policy tools to promote protection, conservation and development of the urban tree canopy. Indiana University announces 2011-12 Kelley Scholars
Ten Kelley Scholars have been selected by the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. The Kelley Scholars, all incoming freshmen this fall who intend to major in business at IU Bloomington, will receive full tuition and fees, a stipend for living expenses and funding for academic activities such as overseas study. Trustees approve designs of new apartments, residence hall
Indiana Daily Student, June 27 -- The designs for a new student residence hall and a new apartment complex were approved by the IU Board of Trustees at a regular business meeting last week at the IU-South Bend campus. "Residence halls provide undergraduates with opportunities to make connections, learn responsibility and become part of a dynamic academic community," said Executive Vice President and IU Provost Karen Hanson in a press release. IU Trustees approve faculty raise, name change for HPER
Indiana Daily Student, June 27 -- The IU Board of Trustees met June 23 and June 24 at the IU-South Bend campus and approved next year's budget as well as a major change for the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. IU trustees unanimously approved a $3 billion budget for the 2011-2012 academic year. The budget includes an additional $15.3 million for student financial aid and provides funding for pay increases. IU continues to restore campus canopy, receives donations for 500 trees
Indiana Daily Student, June 27 -- IU lost hundreds of trees when a powerful line of storms swept through Bloomington in May. But a recent flood of donations has given the University cause to be optimistic, Vice President for Capital Projects & Facilities Tom Morrison said. "This really was a time of crisis for our trees," Morrison said. "But things are starting to look up now." Full story.
