Men's and women's cross country excel at Indiana Intercollegiate

The Indiana women's cross country team took first place at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet. It was the third-consecutive title in the event for the Hoosier women. Chelsea Blanchard crossed the line in first place overall, making it back-to-back individual wins for her in this annual meet.
The IU men took second place in the team points.
The women won with a team score of 19 points, 44 points better than second place Butler. Six Hoosiers placed in the top eight in the 5K run. Blanchard crossed the line with a time of 17:35 to pace the team. Samantha Ginther finished second in 17:41 with Caitlin Engel clocking in at 17:51 in third place. Brianna Johnson (18:02) took sixth place followed by Breanne Ehrman (18:06) and Arianne Raby (18:07) in seventh and eight positions, respectively.
On the men's side, IU finished with 40 points, just five points behind this year's team champion Purdue. Andrew Weatherford led the Hoosiers with a fifth place finish in a time of 25:03, his best time ever at the IU Championship Cross Country Course. Nate Morrow (25:07), Ben Bizuneh (25:08) and Blake Dircksen (25:11) were just behind taking seventh, eighth and ninth overall, respectively. J.R. Ricker rounded out Indiana's scoring taking 11th place in 25:13.
The Hoosiers will have a few weeks off before traveling to Stillwater, Okla. to participate in the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State on Oct. 1.
