BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- President and CEO of the Curtis Institute, violist Roberto Díaz, and collaborative pianist Kwan Yi will perform a guest recital at the IU Jacobs School of Music Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. in Auer Hall. The program will include three Brahms sonatas for viola and piano (Op. 120, No. 1 and 2; No. 1 in G Major, arranged by Csaba Erdéli).

As a professor of viola at Curtis and former principal violist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Díaz continues to have a significant impact on American musical life in his dual roles as performer and educator. He is a member of the Díaz Trio with violinist Andrés Cárdenes and cellist Andrés Díaz. His recording of transcriptions by William Primrose with pianist Robert Koenig (Naxos) was nominated for a 2006 Grammy.

International prize-winning pianist Kwan Yi has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia in such venues as Carnegie Hall's Issac Stern Auditorium, Alice Tully Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall, Kennedy Center's Opera House, the Metropolitan and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museums, Jordan Hall, Jones Hall and Auditorium du Louvre.

Yi is an avid chamber musician and has toured frequently in collaboration with Itzhak Perlman and Roberto Diaz. As a recitalist, he has been presented in series at Levitas Center for the Arts, Lefrak Concert Hall, Carnegie Weill Hall, American Music Festival, Houston Channing Recital Series, Cole Concert Hall in Stephen F. Austin University and Nichols Hall at the Music Institute of Chicago.

Yi received his Bachelor of Music Degree from the Curtis Institute and Master's of Music Degree from the Juilliard School. He is currently studying with Leon Fleisher at the Peabody Institute in the Artist Diploma Program.
