Open and senior youth divisions within the competition will offer the public a rare opportunity to listen to some of the world's most talented up-and-coming guitarists.

In addition to cash prizes for the winners, this year's grand-prize winner will receive a unique handmade guitar by Kolya Panhuyzen, one of the most respected guitar makers in the world.

Guest artist recitals during the festival will be performed by U.S. guitarist Martha Masters and Italian guitarist Edoardo Catemario.

"We expect a high level of performance from American and foreign competitors this year," said Professor Ernesto Bitetti, chair of the Jacobs School Guitar Department. "With performances by Martha and Edoardo, we look forward to two extraordinary days in which students will be able to learn from each other, network and showcase their talents."

In addition to performances, a guitar demonstration will be offered by Panhuyzen, and Tom Yeiser from Sweet Owen Sound Recording Studio will present a lecture on recording techniques for classical guitar.

The Indiana Guitar Festival and Competition is open to all ages of performers from anywhere in the world who are not represented by professional management. Indiana University students are ineligible to compete.

All events are free and open to the public.
