IU ranks in Top 20 nationally in private-sector support; 6th in nation among public universities -- Indiana University ranks fourth in the Big Ten, sixth among all public universities and 17th among all colleges and universities in the nation in the amount of support it receives from the private sector. IU has ranked in the Top 20 among all colleges and universities, public and private, for 15 of the past 17 years. Read the complete story.

Jacobs School welcomes renowned bassoonist William Ludwig to its faculty -- Adding to the already impressive roster of premier faculty at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, internationally renowned bassoon pedagogue William Ludwig will join its ranks in the fall of 2007. Currently Carruth Professor of Bassoon at Louisiana State University, where he has been on faculty since 1985, principal bassoonist with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, bassoonist with the Timm Wind Quintet, director of the LSU Chamber Winds and principal bassoonist of the Brevard Music Center, Ludwig is more than in demand. Childhood Weight Linked to Proximity to Green Space and Food Stores -- Living in greener neighborhoods or in closer proximity to grocery stores is associated with reduced risk of being overweight, according to a study of more than 7,000 children ages 3 to 18 conducted by researchers from the Indiana University School of Medicine; the Department of Geography, Indiana University-Purdue University. Indiana travels to Michigan State for Saturday showdown -- The Indiana men's basketball team takes to the road again for its final two games away from Bloomington, starting with a trip to East Lansing to face Michigan State at 9 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 24. This is the second meeting between the two schools this season, with the Hoosiers knocking off the then-No. 24 Spartans, 73-51, in Bloomington on Jan. 7. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN, with Dan Shulman (play-by-play), Dick Vitale (analyst) and Erin Andrews (sideline) on the call. Read the complete story.

Women's basketball - The Indiana women's basketball team closed its home season with an 83-59 win over Northwestern.

Men's tennis -- The No. 63 Indiana men's tennis team dropped its second match of the season, falling 5-2 to No. 33 Kentucky on Thursday, Feb. 22.

Schedule for Friday, February 23:

Women's golf -- The women compete in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan. The time has yet to be announced.

Baseball -- IU plays Troy in Dothan, Ala., at 6 p.m. CT.

Men's basketball -- The Hoosiers face Michigan State in East Lansing at 9 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Men's swimming - The IU men's swim team competes in the IU Last Chance Invitational, 10 a.m. in Bloomington.

Women's tennis -- The IU women's tennis team plays Tennessee at 12 p.m. EST in Knoxville, Tenn.

Women's track -- The women's track team competes in the Big Ten Championships in Champaign, Ill. Time to be announced.

Women's golf -- The women's golf team competes in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Time to be announced.

Men's track -- The men's track team competes in the Big Ten Championships in Bloomington. Time to be announced.

Baseball -- The IU baseball team plays Georgia Southern at 10 a.m. in Dothan, Ala.

Women's basketball -- The IU women's basketball team goes head to head against Penn State at 2 p.m. in University Park, Pa.

Men's Track -- The men's track team competes in the Big Ten Championships in Bloomington. Time to be announced.

The Health Information and Translational Sciences Building is the first of two IU buldings to be constructed at the head of the Indianapolis canal basin downtown.
