McRobbie looks to compete
Indianapolis Star, March 2 -- When Michael McRobbie said Thursday that Indiana University was at a crossroads, the next IU president was talking about the need to meet competition across the globe for top-notch students, faculty and scarce government aid. But the Australian scientist also pledged to tackle some problems on the IU home front -- namely to strengthen the image of the president's office and ease tensions between IU's two main campuses. "My vision for Indiana University requires a balanced partnership between our two major research campuses" in Bloomington and Indianapolis, McRobbie told a crowded auditorium at IUPUI.
