FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 23, 2009

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Aspiring filmmakers, make note: Indiana University students will have an opportunity to create their own five-minute movies -- and win prizes ranging from cash grants to a MacBook Air laptop -- through participation in Campus MovieFest, the world's largest student film festival.

Indiana Memorial Union Board has invited Campus MovieFest to campus to work with any interested, currently enrolled IU students for one week, from March 26-April 1. To register, students must submit their information to www.campusmoviefest.com.

The project begins March 26 in the IMU's Sassafras Room with a meeting from noon to 5 p.m. Each team will receive an Apple laptop computer loaded with iMovie and Final Cut editing software, digital video cameras including Panasonic HD cameras, AT&T videophones and all the necessary accessories; 24-hour technical support and software training will be provided.

The completed films will be shown at a free, open-to-the-public "red carpet" event at Bloomington's Buskirk-Chumley Theatre Thursday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. A Guitar Hero® World Tour Mobile Competition will kick off the red carpet event at 6:30 p.m. (the regional winner will win a Nintendo Wii). The celebration will feature more than $2,000 in door prizes, including iPods and Final Cut Studio software.

Audience members can submit votes by text message at the end of the night. Recognitions will be made in the categories of Best Comedy, Best Drama and Best Picture, as well as the AT&T Best Use of Mobile category.

IU's winners will be invited to the Northern Regional Grand Finale in New York City to compete against 14 other schools from around the region, followed by an International Grand Finale at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.

Participants can win thousands of dollars in prizes, including MacBook Air laptops, iPods, AT&T video phones, Final Cut Studio software, gift cards and cash grants. Winning films may be seen in-flight at 35,000 feet on Virgin America, on millions of AT&T phones, at Campus MovieFest events at the Cannes Film Fesival and more.

Campus MovieFest is presented by the Indiana Memorial Union Board in conjunction with the Bloomington Artists Agency, Residence Hall Association, Hollywood Hoosiers, Hoosier Eye Doctor and Best Buy.
