BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University will conduct a Teach In on May 5 to share with the campus and Bloomington community the latest information about Influenza A (H1N1), also known as swine flu.
The teach in, co-sponsored by the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation and IU's Center for the Study of Global Change, will include the following speakers:
- Lloyd Kolbe, associate dean for global and community health at the School of HPER and founding director of the Division of Adolescent and School Health at the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- Diana Ebling, M.D., medical director of the IU Health Center
- Vickie VanDeventer, infection control practitioner at Bloomington Hospital and coordinator of hospital bioterrorism preparedness for Public Health District 8
- Penny Caudill, administrator of the Monroe County Health Department
The speakers will discuss the swine flu in both a global and local context. They also will discuss local preparedness efforts and best practices for avoiding infection and staying healthy. People in attendance will be able to ask questions and light refreshments will be provided.
