Media advisory: Indiana University panel to present 2004 economic forecast on Thursday

EDITORS: Indiana University's Business Outlook Panel will begin its annual tour of the state with an economic presentation at 7:30 a.m. EST on Thursday (Nov. 6) at the Columbia Club, 121 Monument Circle in Indianapolis.

Faculty in IU's Kelley School of Business will present the first post-election 2004 forecast about the economy of Indiana, the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area and the nation. For more than 30 years, the panel has traveled the state offering insights and useful guidance to citizens, policymakers and business people.

Arrangements have been made to accommodate print and broadcast reporters. Panelists will be available for interviews immediately following the event. The discussion should begin at approximately 8 a.m., although reporters are encouraged to arrive at 7:30 a.m. The panel will conclude at about 9 a.m.

In addition to the Indianapolis event, the Business Outlook Panel also will present its forecast at noon in Bloomington. Professional-quality audio of the noon presentation will be available live at https://broadcast.iu.edu, where an archived recording also will be available by 3 p.m. We invite news organizations, particularly radio stations, to utilize this resource. We also encourage all news organizations to provide links to this site as part of your coverage. It will be available online through the month of November. A news release about the forecast will be available at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at https://newsinfo.iu.edu.

If you have questions about these arrangements, contact George Vlahakis at IU Media Relations, phone 812-855-0846 or at gvlahaki@indiana.edu.

Members of the panel will be Jerry Conover, director of the Indiana Business Research Center; Dan Dalton, dean of the Kelley School of Business; R. Jeffery Green, co-director of the Indiana Center for Econometric Model Research and professor of business economics and public policy; Andreas Hauskrecht, assistant professor of business economics and public policy; Morton Marcus, former director of IBRC; and James Smith, senior lecturer in finance.
