BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- With a substantial increase in iPhones and mobile applications on campus, the IU community is more connected than ever. The upcoming iPhone conference invites students, faculty, and staff to get more out of Apple's developer tools for Mac and iPhone.

Conference attendees will get an overview of the technologies available for iPhone web applications and benefit from other developers' experiences creating iPhone applications that are visually compelling and simple to use.

"Mobile devices, particularly the iPhone, have transformed the landscape of computing and opened new doors of opportunity for developers to provide dynamic content to an increasingly sophisticated audience," said Dennis Groth, associate dean for undergraduate studies, School of Informatics and Computing at IU Bloomington. "We are delighted to co-sponsor this event, and strongly believe these opportunities are essential elements of the student learning experience at IU."

Steve Hayman, national consulting engineer for Apple's US Education Sales group, will deliver the keynote address. In addition to demonstrating the latest features in Xcode, Interface Builder, and Instruments, Hayman will show attendees how to make the most of new technologies in Snow Leopard and iPhone OS 3.0. Hayman frequently presents at Apple's World Wide Developer Conference and serves as a field expert on Unix, Mac OS X developer tools, and the Cocoa, AppleScript Studio, and iPhone OS developer environments.

Those interested in iPhone application and web development are encouraged to attend. There is no cost for IU students, faculty, and staff. There is a $20 fee for attendees not affiliated with IU. Registration fees are payable by cash, checks, or credit card onsite at conference registration.

Space is limited, so register as soon as possible at https://www.indiana.edu/~uits/iphone2009/.
