BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Big top meets Broadway when Cirque Dreams: Illumination creates a magical, neon city at Indiana University Auditorium Dec. 11.

Cirque Dreams

Cirque Dreams: Illumination

Cirque Dreams: Illumination mixes the European cirque style with American Broadway musical theater, transforming a seemingly ordinary city and its residents into a unique fantasy world. In one part of Illumination, audience members will be invited onstage with the performers to create their own imaginary pieces.

Cirque Dreams is the first company to produce this type of production on Broadway. With an international cast of 30 acrobatically gifted performers, the New York Daily News has called the production "acrobatic audacity and limitless imagination all in one."

"Cirque Dreams will have you at the edge of your seat," said Doug Booher, IU Auditorium director. "You will be absolutely amazed by the beauty, artistry and excitement of this production."

Since the creation of Cirque Productions in 1993, the company's founder, producer and artistic director, Neil Goldberg, has designed and created productions for the Super Bowl and NBA, in addition to collaborations with top symphony orchestras and arts programs for children. Cirque Dreams was the first production company of its kind to combine European cirque performance styles with American circus acts.

Other Cirque Dreams productions include Cirque Dreams: Jungle Fantasy, which is currently touring through 2010; Cirque Dreams: Coobrila at Six Flags theme parks throughout the U.S.; Cirque Dreams: Pandemonia and Cirque Dreams: Holidaze.

A special podcast interview with Goldberg and more information on Cirque Dreams: Illumination, as well as other shows from IU Auditorium's 2009-2010 season can be found at https://www.iuauditorium.com/site/index.html.
