Asumang confronts the German society in which she was raised through a film that explores the complexities of 21st century German and European identity in the face of migration, multiculturalism and the rise of right-wing youth violence after unification.

Asumang will show her film at IUPUI's campus Thursday (Jan. 21) and then in Bloomington on Friday afternoon. The film includes English subtitles and will be followed by a question and answer session. This will be the first U.S. campus that Asumang visits with her film.

Roots Germania (2007) was nominated for Germany's prestigious Adolf Grimme Award for television productions. Since the film's release, Asumang has taken it on a tour through Germany. She addresses school groups, organizations and film festivals in public dialogues and awareness campaigns.
