Millennium Momentum Foundation founder to return to IU Bloomington on Thursday
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Jason L. Seward, founder, president and chairman of the board of the Los Angeles-based Millennium Momentum Foundation, will speak at Indiana University Bloomington on Thursday (March 11). The event is free and open to the public.
Seward, a 1997 IU graduate, will speak on the subject, "The Next Generation of Leadership: Completing the Voyage from Collegiate Classroom to the Executive Boardroom." The lecture will be in the Grand Hall of the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, 275 N. Jordan Ave, at 7 p.m. It is being presented by the Neal-Marshall Public Policy Forum, the Groups Program and the McNair Scholars Program at IU Bloomington.
Millennium Momentum Foundation Inc. is a nonpartisan, nonprofit public benefit corporation Seward founded to increase the number of young adults from various ethnic backgrounds in the fields of public administration, public policy and corporate public affairs.
In addition to his IU degree, Seward earned a master's degree in public administration from the University of Southern California in 1999. While at USC, Seward had an internship in the office of Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, chairwoman of the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors. After completing the internship, Seward became one of the youngest deputy supervisors appointed to the Burke administration.
Modeling his vision based on personal experience, Seward created a foundation with the goal of opening doors for young people who otherwise might not have the academic and professional opportunities to rise to leadership positions. It was recently honored by the Rev. Jesse Jackson with a Rainbow Coalition Award.
The foundation has a local connection. Cathi Eagan, IU assistant dean for research and director of the McNair Scholars Program, serves on its board of directors.
