Angela Brown concert at IU Jacobs School of Music rescheduled for October
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 22, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Angela Brown's "Opera From a Sistah's Point of View" one-woman show, originally scheduled for July 30 as part of the 2010 Indiana University Summer Music Festival, has been rescheduled to Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at 8 p.m. The concert will take place at the Musical Arts Center.
The internationally renowned soprano and Jacobs School of Music alumna had to cancel the July date due to a severe throat infection, according to her manager, Janet Jarriel of JEJ Artists.
"I'm so sorry I can't be with you for the original date, but I look forward to seeing you in October," said Brown. "Thank you for loving me, and I'll see you soon!"
Brown is on a mission to bring operatic and classical vocal performance to a diverse audience. "Opera From a Sistah's Point of View" dispels the myths of opera through lively commentary on opera plots and characters, show-stopping arias, poignant art songs and moving spirituals.
"The biggest misconception about opera is that it's only geared toward elitist audiences," she has said. "Anybody could really enjoy an opera if they chose to."
Tickets for the July 30 show will be honored on Oct. 16, or they may be returned to the Musical Arts Center (MAC) box office for a full refund Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Summer Music Festival will present many more events before its Aug. 10 conclusion, including the Festival Orchestra concerts on July 22 and Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. in the MAC.
