Students invited to submit designs for IU's official plaid

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nov. 14, 2011

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Are you mad for plaid?

IU Official Colors

The Indiana University Students in Free Enterprise team is looking for a student who will go down in history as the designer of IU's official plaid, which will be featured on apparel, scarves, bags and other IU-branded merchandise.

Entries for the contest must be submitted to sifeiub@indiana.edu by Dec. 9. Participants must use the official IU Cream (Pantone 9161) and Crimson (Pantone 201) colors, and one to four additional colors. Designs must be computer-generated, 300 dpi and submitted in one of the following formats: JPEG, AI or PDF.

Judging will include a round of selection by IU dignitaries and alumni, followed by a final round of Internet-based voting in the spring to determine which plaid will represent the university.

"This competition is an exciting opportunity for creative students to apply themselves, defining a representation of their spirit of IU that will live well beyond their time on campus," said Dr. Ashley Hasty, faculty in the Apparel Merchandising and Interior Design Department and developer of the project. "We are looking forward to receiving a wide range of design ideas."

For questions or inquiries regarding the IU Plaid Competition, email sifeiub@indiana.edu.
