"Peter Pan" has only played at IU Auditorium twice in its 75-year history, first in 1951 and again in 1983. This year's performance marks the Bloomington debut of the most recent "Peter Pan" revival.

"It's been 30 years since IU Auditorium has been fortunate enough to present this action-filled family musical," IU Auditorium director Doug Booher said. "This is an incredible opportunity to witness a timeless classic in a whole new way, with a beautifully lush production starring the person beloved the world over for bringing Peter to life: Cathy Rigby. It will truly be a magical experience for young and old alike."

Since 1990, "Peter Pan" starring Rigby has made four stops on Broadway, garnering four Tony nominations including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Actress in a Musical. Rigby also starred in the A&E television network premiere of "Peter Pan," which received four Emmy Award nominations and one Emmy Award.

Rigby's other theatrical credits include "Annie Get Your Gun," "Meet Me in St. Louis," "South Pacific," "Paint Your Wagon," "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," "Silvia," "Steel Magnolias" and "Seussical the Musical." Prior to her successful career in theater, Rigby was an eight-time gold-medal-winning gymnast, an inductee in the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame, an ABC Sports commentator and one of "America's Most Influential Women in Sports" as appointed by the Wide World of Sports.

On opening night, Feb. 26, IU Auditorium will partner with B97 and Hoosier Country 105.1 to present "Kids Night on Broadway." Starting when the front doors open at 6:30 p.m., there will be family-friendly Peter Pan-themed activities in the auditorium's grand foyer, including Peter Pan's Treasure Hunt, a Captain Hook Ring Toss and Tinkerbell's Wand-Making Station. Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite Peter Pan character or come to Neverland like Wendy, Michael and John -- in their pajamas. Activities are free with the price of admission.
