Media advisory -- Arrangements for Oct. 30 Ehud Barak visit to IU Bloomington

Credentials will be required

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oct. 25, 2006

Barak

Editors: A media availability with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak has been scheduled for 6:15 p.m., Monday (Oct. 30), in the State Room East of the Indiana Memorial Union, 900 E. Seventh St. Barak also will be giving a public lecture at 7:30 p.m. that same evening at the IU Auditorium, 1211 E. Seventh St.

Media wishing to attend the media availability and lecture must complete and return a credentials-request form following this advisory. Media credentials will be distributed outside the IMU State Room East and will not be available at the IU Auditorium. Proper identification indicating that reporters are associated with a recognized news organization will be needed to pick up credentials.

The deadline for completing a credentials-request form will be noon on Monday (Oct. 30). It should faxed to 812-855-856-4265 or e-mailed to George Vlahakis at gvlahaki@indiana.edu.

Still photography by news organizations will be permitted during the first five minutes of Barak's talk and during the question-and-answer session to follow. No flash photography, or video and audio recording will be permitted at any time during the event at the IU Auditorium.

There will be increased security measures in place for the lecture. All who attend will be searched with metal detector wands, and bags will not be allowed inside the auditorium. A bag check will be located outside the building. Small purses will be searched but allowed. Posters also will not be permitted inside the lecture and will be confiscated if brought into the building.

The lecture is free and open to the public, but general admission tickets are required to attend the lecture. There will be a two-ticket limit per person. Tickets can be picked up at the IU Auditorium Box Office, which is open Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For questions about tickets, call 812-855-1103.

The Indiana Memorial Union Board has brought thousands of programs to the IU community since its inception in 1909. Union Board is comprised of 16 student- and four non-student directors who are responsible for campus programming that entertains and educates the IU community. For more information about Union Board, call 812-855-4682 or e-mail ubpr@indiana.edu.

A Sept. 26 news release about the lecture provides more information about Barak and his accomplishments.
