Student video contest ‘Celebrates IU’
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sept. 19, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Students from all eight Indiana University campuses will have the opportunity to show how they "Celebrate IU" through a video contest sponsored by the Indiana University Office of Creative Services in partnership with Union Board.
Participants can directly submit their own 60-seconds-or-less videos showing why they love Indiana University to IU's YouTube site (www.youtube.com/group/celebrate). The deadline for entries is Friday, Oct. 12.
In honor of the first "Celebrate IU" week -- a week filled with Homecoming, concerts, a "cornhole" tournament, the dedication of Simon Hall and the inauguration of IU's new president, Michael McRobbie -- students are invited to share what they love most about IU, whether it's the amazing people, the great sports or the beautiful campus.
A panel of judges -- including student representatives from the Union Board and staff members from Creative Services -- will select one grand prize winner and one runner-up.
The grand prize winner will receive two tickets to the Homecoming concert featuring Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello on Oct. 19 at Assembly Hall, as well as a tailgate catering package for 10 prepared by Indiana Memorial Union.
The runner-up will receive a package including IMU coupons to Starbucks, Sugar and Spice, Burger King, Kiva and the Market; two grand buffets in the Tudor Room; two advanced screening tickets at the IMU; and two tickets to Godspell the Musical.
The winners will be announced on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Check the "Celebrate IU" Web site (https://celebrate.iu.edu/contest.php) for details and updates.
Students on the IU Bloomington campus can rent digital video cameras from the Kent Cooper Room at the Herman B Wells library for 48 hours with a valid student ID (supply is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis). Contest officials will monitor videos on the site to ensure the content is appropriate.
To enter the contest, students are asked to make a 60-seconds-or-less video showing how they "Celebrate IU," then join the "Celebrate IU" group on YouTube at www.youtube.com/group/celebrate and upload the video to the site.
