Senior Salute for Indiana University’s Class of 2008 is on Thursday

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 22, 2008

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University's class of 2008 is invited to the annual Senior Salute from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, (April 24), in the tent behind the DeVault Alumni Center at 1000 E. 17th St., across from Assembly Hall.

In the event of rain, the festivities will move indoors.

Senior Salute is the largest graduation party on campus. Hosted by the IU Student Alumni Association and the IU Alumni Association, the party congratulates the senior class and introduces them to multiple ways to stay connected to IU long after graduation. All students graduating in 2008 are invited.

This year's event will feature free food from Chipotle, Papa John's and Bucceto's, beverages, live music by Dave and Rae, and games including the largest cornhole board most have ever seen. Door prizes will include a life membership in the IUAA (a $395 value), an official IU ring and a diploma frame. The first 1,500 seniors in attendance will receive a free IU commemorative glass and gifts from their school. Seniors must present their student ID cards in order to receive prizes.

In addition, there will be a tree dedication ceremony with IU Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson and Student Alumni Association President Kristen King. Tom Martz, president of the IUAA; Tricia Runkel, IU Student Foundation president; and a representative from the Varsity Club will also make brief remarks.

Major sponsors of the Senior Salute include the IU Foundation, the Varsity Club, the IUAA, SAA and Becca Sports.

One of the largest and most active student organizations at IU Bloomington, the SAA sponsors student leadership initiatives and events such as Homecoming, Networking Nights, LeaderShape IU and business-etiquette programs.

The IUAA is dedicated to serving the university and its diverse alumni, students and friends. As one of the nation's largest alumni organizations, serving more than 508,000 graduates worldwide, the IUAA provides many programs and services to its members, nonmember alumni and the university.
