Chancellor Brehm to address State of Diversity at IUB

Indiana University Bloomington Chancellor Sharon Stephens Brehm will give her first State of Diversity address Tuesday (March 11) at 4 p.m. in Woodburn Hall 100. The event is open to the public.

Brehm's address will include a review of the trends over the last two decades in the ethnic and gender make-up of the Indiana University Bloomington student body, faculty and staff. The speech will also describe more than a dozen existing campus programs to enhance diversity as well as others offered by schools and other units.

The State of Diversity address will be given in the room that houses one of the Benton murals, which has frequently been the subject of campus controversy because of its depiction of members of the Ku Klux Klan burning a cross.

A video will be shown about the history and context of the Benton murals, as will a video on diversity issues that is shown to all incoming IUB students during orientation.
