New updates and additions to the IU Scholarship Web site

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 11, 2008

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--The recently revamped IU Scholarship Web site (https://www.scholarships.indiana.edu/) features new tools and resources to keep incoming freshmen and parents informed about scholarship opportunities and initiatives.

"We are continuing to enhance and expand our scholarship programs to bring the best and brightest students from around the world to IU, and to make IU accessible and affordable to Indiana residents," says Sarah Booher, director for the Office of Scholarships.

Among the many changes noted on the IU Scholarship Web site, information about criteria for the Automatic Academic Scholarships is available for students applying for the fall of 2009. Incoming students are eligible to receive up to $9,000 per year if they meet certain academic requirements.

IU is also now presenting scholarships to top students recognized by the National Achievement Scholarship Program for African American students and the National Hispanic Recognition Program. Starting in the fall of 2009, these students will be awarded $1,000 per year, renewable for four years.

The site now features a Spanish language page complete with a printable Spanish language brochure.

"We are very excited about the new initiatives for underrepresented students, which enhance the breadth of our current scholarship offerings for top scholars. Additionally, providing scholarship information in Spanish allows us to better communicate with the families of the growing Hispanic student population in the state of Indiana and around the country," says Booher.

Visitors to the site will also notice Scholar Spotlights, a monthly feature describing the experiences of IU scholars who have been through the recruitment and scholarship experience.
