FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 7, 2008

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Dr. William Cast and Tom Reilly Jr. have been reappointed to three-year terms on the Indiana University Board of Trustees.

Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels announced the appointments. Both Cast and Reilly were initially appointed to the board by Daniels in 2005.

Cast, of Fort Wayne, earned his undergraduate degree from IU in 1958 and graduated from the IU School of Medicine in 1962. He is the founder and was the first chairman of DuPont Hospital in Fort Wayne and has been in private practice with Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists since 1969.

He was one of the founders of the Canterbury School, a pre-kindergarten through 12th grade school in Fort Wayne.

Reilly, of Indianapolis, retired in 2003 after 13 years as chair of Reilly Industries, an Indianapolis chemical company. He served as chair of the Committee on Higher Education of the Indiana Government Efficiency Commission, chair of the Butler University Board of Trustees and president and CEO of the American Chemistry Council.

He received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Last week, Patrick A. Shoulders, an Evansville attorney, was re-elected by alumni to a three-year term on the IU Board of Trustees.

The Board of Trustees is the governing board, legal owner and final authority of Indiana University, holding the university's financial, physical and human assets and operations in trust for future generations. Its membership, terms of office, responsibilities, powers and electoral procedures are governed by state law.

The board has nine members, who serve staggered terms. Six, including a student trustee, are appointed by the Indiana governor; three are elected by alumni.
