Office of Overseas Study issues alert to IU students in Hong Kong
University officials are strongly recommending that IU students enrolled in overseas study programs in Hong Kong make arrangements to return to the United States in light of concerns about the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
Seven IU students have been studying this semester in Hong Kong in programs administered by the Office of Overseas Study and the Kelley School of Business. Several of those students have already returned or are in the process of returning to the United States.
Two other IU students are studying in China in programs administered by other institutions. The Office of Overseas Study has been in touch with those students to advise them of the outbreak and recommend precautionary measures.
The IUPUI School of Law has cancelled its scheduled summer program in Beijing. Thirty-two students had signed up for the program.
