Mini University at IU Bloomington offers summer fun and learning

From Motown and the Middle East to the arts and affirmative action, the topics cover a broad spectrum during Mini University, Indiana University's weeklong continuing education program for adults of all ages that is held on the Bloomington campus each summer.

Attendees for the June 15-20 event can choose from more than 100 courses taught by some of IU's best faculty. This year's diverse set of courses includes "Appreciating Art Through Virtual Environments," "Girl Groups, Guy Groups and Motown," "The U.S. Economic Situation," "Creating a Simple Web Page," "Marketing Drugs to Seniors," "Affirmative Action: The Supreme Court Decides," "Current Trends in Education," "Living Well," "Middle East Update," "Bioterrorism and the United States Food Supply" and "Getting It: Why We Think Something Is Funny."

In addition to the courses, the week includes picnics, films, tours, discussions and a theater trip. Attendees can also enjoy the campus swimming pools, tennis courts and other recreational facilities.

In 2002, Frommer's Budget Travel magazine chose Mini University as one of the nine best learning vacations in America. Earlier this year, Mini University was included in another Frommer's learning vacation article that appeared on MSNBC.com. Both articles cited the program's variety of courses and reasonable price.

The registration fee is $195. To receive a registration brochure, visit https://www.alumni.indiana.edu/learn/miniuni.html or phone 800-824-3044.
