Media advisory: Information for media covering Little 500

EDITORS AND REPORTERS: Media credentials and infield passes are required for the 2003 Little 500 events at Indiana University Bloomington: the women's Little 500 bicycle race on Friday (April 25) at 4 p.m. and the men's Little 500 bicycle race on Saturday (April 26) at 2 p.m.

Credentials can be picked up at the Office of Communications and Marketing, 530 E. Kirkwood Ave., Suite 201 (located in Carmichael Center at the corner of Kirkwood and Indiana avenues) on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and until noon on Friday. Afterward, credentials will only be available at Bill Armstrong Stadium on days of the Little 500 races during the 90 minutes prior to the race.

To secure credentials, complete and fax a form that is available on our Web site at https://newsinfo.iu.edu.

Parking for the media will be available in the parking lot of St. Paul's Catholic Center, 1413 E. 17th St. You will need a copy of the completed credentials form or other media identification in order to park in this lot. The media credentials tent will be located in this lot, which is adjacent to the south side of Armstrong Stadium. This lot also is being used by handicapped fans, so please cooperate with parking personnel.

Media with access to the infield of the track will need to cooperate with us. The Little 500 is being televised live this year by HDNet and also will be presented on Sunday (April 27) at 1 p.m. on WISH-TV in Indianapolis. Consideration will be given to the broadcast camera people, who will be located in the first and third turns and in the infield. You are invited to consider placing a camera on top of the press box during the races. We do not think that this should provide any challenges to other broadcast and still camera people.

IU Media Relations personnel will be available to assist you and to answer questions.

Media who are looking for information on students riding in the Little 500 should go to https://iusf.bloomington.com/little5/pressinfo.html. This site includes the names, hometowns and contact information for every rider in the men's and women's races, as well as publication-quality photos. Other information about Little 500 is available at https://newsinfo.iu.edu or https://www.iusf.org.
