IU Bloomington commencement media advisory

Following is information for planning purposes for media covering Indiana University Bloomington commencement ceremonies on Saturday (May 10).

Two ceremonies will be conducted Saturday in Assembly Hall. The first will be at 10 a.m. and the second at 3 p.m. The duration of each ceremony is expected to be 1 hour.

Sen. Richard Lugar will deliver the commencement address during both ceremonies. Media availability for the senator will take place immediately following the morning ceremony at approximately 11:45 a.m. in the IU athletics director's conference room on the west side of Assembly Hall. Use the west doors to enter. The senator will be available for about 30 minutes.

For media covering the commencement ceremonies, a mult box will be available near the main audio board on the Assembly Hall floor. The location is some distance from the stage, so crews may want to use wireless connections to preserve mobility.

Indiana University will provide broadcast-quality video of remarks delivered by Lugar during the morning ceremony. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, IU will send roughly 30 minutes of video by fibre to WFYI-Indianapolis. It will contain three parts: Lugar's podium remarks, general commencement b-roll, and the senator's post-ceremony media availability. Copies will be available for local TV at the station. WFYI staff may be reached at 317-633-7410.

At 3 p.m. Indianapolis time (20:00 GMT), WFYI will uplink the same material to Ku-band SBS 6 (74 degrees west), transponder/channel 5, downlink frequency 11823mhz, polarity horizontal, audio 6.2 and 6.8 momo.

The senator's remarks will also be available in audio form online at https://www.broadcast.iu.edu early next week.
