David Villanueva, administrative director of choral ensembles, and Erin Woodley, an undergraduate adviser, were recognized by IU Bloomington Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson in a reception in the Frangipani Room of the Indiana Memorial Union.

Hanson also presented Service Staff Merit Awards to George Bull, carpenter, Physical Plant, and John Wilber, custodial worker II, Physical Plant; and Support Staff Merit Awards to Ginnie Phero, office services assistant, Maurer School of Law, and Gregory Van Hook, accounting representative, HPER, Recreational Sports.

"The aspirational potential of our school is made possible in large part by senior staff like Erin Woodley and David Villanueva. Their dedication, drive and determination excel all expectations," said Jacobs Dean Gwyn Richards. "Their care of our students and their collaboration with our faculty endear them to all within the Jacobs School. We congratulate them on this recognition of the difference they make in the lives of those at Indiana University."

David Manuel Villanueva began working for the Choral Department in 1996 after completing his master's degree in Voice Performance at Jacobs. As administrative director of the Choral Department, Villanueva's duties include scheduling and helping to oversee the ensemble placement auditions for nearly 500 students, procuring performance licenses for all music programmed by the department's 12 performing ensembles, and serving as one of the department's representatives on the Performance Coordinating Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the professional choral ensemble Apollo's Voice, which is directed by Chancellor's Professor Emeritus of Conducting Jan Harrington.

Erin Woodley has been the undergraduate adviser for the Jacobs School of Music since the position was created in Fall 1999. Previously, she was an associate director in the Jacobs Admissions Office. Originally from Brandenburg, Ky., she graduated from the University of Louisville in music education and moved to Bloomington in 1992 when her husband, David C. Woodley, was appointed director of the Marching Hundred. They have a 7-year old son named Darin.
