ARTI opens new business incubator in Indianapolis

University and political notables will be on hand Monday (May 19) as the Advanced Research & Technology Institute dedicates its new Indiana University Emerging Technologies Center, an incubator for technology-oriented businesses.

The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the incubator site, 351 W. 10th St. in Indianapolis, featuring U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh as its keynote speaker. Other speakers will include IU Interim President Gerald Bepko, Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson and Advanced Research & Technology Institute President and CEO Mark Long. Early attendees may join tours of the new building between 9:30 a.m and 10:30 a.m.

The Indiana University Emerging Technologies Center (IUETC) has already signed two new tenants. OptoSonics Inc. develops thermoacoustic imaging systems that can tell doctors crucial details about biological processes inside patients' bodies. Sales Performance Partners LLC provides broad business training and advice to scientists, researchers and others who want to know how best to sell their products.

ARTI, an IU affiliate, is a private, not-for-profit agent charged with increasing IU's collaboration with the private sector. IUETC assists entrepreneurs with business formation, development and maturation by providing facilities, amenities, support and networking opportunities.
