IU commencement ceremonies set for May 8-14

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A total of 15,639 graduates will be eligible for degrees from Indiana University during May commencement ceremonies at eight campuses. IU commencement week will start in Bloomington on May 8 and conclude at IU East on May 14.

Former Indiana first lady Judy O'Bannon will address graduates, friends and family members at two ceremonies on the Bloomington campus on May 8. IU will award 7,121 degrees during the morning and afternoon ceremonies at Assembly Hall. The morning ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. and the afternoon ceremony at 3 p.m.

There are 1,786 Purdue University degrees that also will be conferred during the ceremonies on IU campuses. Other IU commencement ceremonies and the number of graduates eligible for degrees, including Purdue University degrees awarded on campuses that have Purdue programs, are:

For Bloomington, the number of graduates includes degree candidates for May, June and August, and graduate students whose degrees have been or will be awarded from January 2004 to July 2004. For other campuses, the figures include degree recipients from December 2003 and candidates for May, June and August 2004. The numbers also include graduate students whose degrees have been or will be awarded during the 2003-04 academic year.

Nine individuals will receive honorary degrees at five IU campuses. They are:
