FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dec. 13, 2010
NOTE: Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie released the following statement about Dr. Mark Pescovitz, a professor at the IU School of Medicine who was killed in a car accident in Michigan yesterday (Dec. 12).
McRobbie: "All of us at Indiana University are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our esteemed colleague, Dr. Mark Pescovitz, a highly skilled transplant surgeon whose work at the School of Medicine extended and improved the lives of so many of his patients. We join with our colleagues at the University of Michigan in extending our condolences to Mark's wife, Dr. Ora Pescovitz, the UM executive vice president for medical affairs. It was a special privilege to have known Mark and been able to appreciate the many facets of his character and talents. He was not only an accomplished physician, but a truly extraordinary human being and a loving husband and father of three children. Mark and Ora, who was executive associate dean of the IU School of Medicine for many years, have contributed greatly to this institution. Mark will be in all of our memories."
