BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Author, teacher and news correspondent Jenna Bush Hager will speak at Indiana University as part of IU's Women's History Month celebration.

The free, open-to-the-public lecture is presented by Union Board and will take place in the Whittenberger Auditorium at the Indiana Memorial Union on Tuesday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m.

The program is co-sponsored by the Center for Evaluation & Education Policy, Department of Political Science, College Republicans, the School of Education and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Bush Hager is the author of two New York Times bestsellers: Ana's Story: A Journey of Hope (2007) and Read All about It (2008), which she co-wrote with her mother, Laura Bush.

Bush Hager has volunteered in Latin America and worked for UNICEF's Educational Policy Department in Panama, where she taught children in orphanages, an experience that became the inspiration for her first book. Since the release of her first book, she has spoken out on issues of child poverty, abuse and HIV/AIDS. Today, she serves as the Young Leadership Ambassador and chair for UNICEF's Next Generation Committee, which aims to improve the lives of children around the world.

In 2009, Bush Hager was hired as a contributing correspondent for NBC's "Today," where she reports on education, human interest stories and features each month. In 2010, she interviewed former President Bill Clinton and discussed the rehabilitation of Haiti. She is also currently a reading resource teacher at a public school in Baltimore.

"Union Board is extraordinarily proud to bring Jenna Bush Hager to campus," said IU student George Thomas, lectures director at Union Board. "We always try to bring in new perspectives and engage new audiences, and we believe this exciting lecture for Women's History Month 2011 will do that."
