Oh, my! Legendary broadcaster Dick Enberg to sign new autobiography at IU Bloomington
Note: Dick Enberg will be available for media interviews from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the IU Alumni Center.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Dick Enberg, an Indiana University alumnus and CBS sports broadcaster, will sign copies of his new autobiography on Feb. 26 (Saturday) at the Virgil E. DeVault Alumni Center, 1000 E. 17th St., across the street from where he will call the IU men's basketball game against Michigan State the following day.
The event, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is free and open to the public. Enberg will give a brief address before signing copies of his book, Dick Enberg: Oh My! (Sports Publishing, 2004). Refreshments will be served, and books will be available for purchase from the IU Bookstore.
The event is being sponsored by the IU Alumni Association, the IU Bookstore and IUAA's Monroe County chapter.
Enberg is a 12-time Emmy Award winner and has been named Sportscaster of the Year nine times. During his career, he has covered nearly every major sporting event including the Olympics, the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Rose Bowl, Wimbledon and the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
In his new book, Enberg relives his connection to many of sports' greatest moments, and takes readers into the booth and behind the camera. He dedicates a chapter to his days at IU, where he got his start in broadcasting, calling IU football games.
Enberg received master's and doctoral degrees in health sciences from IU. He has been honored as a Willard W. Patty Distinguished Alumnus of the university based on his professional accomplishments and ongoing support of IU programs in health, physical education and recreation.
He was the commencement speaker at IU Bloomington in 2002. In 1999, he returned to Bloomington for the dedication of the Dick Enberg Distance Learning Studio at the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation. The studio combines the architecture of a traditional lecture hall with the capabilities of a television production studio, and it can be used to produce live one-way and two-way distance learning education programs.
