IUAA committee appointed, seeking nominations for executive council

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University Alumni Association Chairman Christopher L. Craft, BS'89, has appointed the IUAA nominating committee for Executive Council members.

Alma Nesbitt Powell, BS'70, MS'72, is the chairwoman of the committee, tasked with compiling a slate of candidates for the 2012 election of officers, at-large members of the IUAA Board of Managers, and at-large members of the Executive Council. Rounding out the committee are David E. Davis, BGS'90, MBA'95; Phyllis J. Lewis, BSGN'59, MSN'80; Stephen C. Moberly, BA'63, LLB'66; and Brent J. Pieper, BA'97.

The IUAA is seeking nominations to fill the offices of chair-elect, vice chair, secretary, treasurer, and two at-large members of the Board of Managers, as well as 10 at-large member seats for its 2012 Executive Council.

IUAA members may send names of individuals to be considered for nomination by the committee to John Hobson (BS'68, MS'69), IU Alumni Association, 1000 E. 17th St., Bloomington, IN 47408-1521 or jhobson@indiana.edu.

In accordance with the association bylaws, alumni or members of the Alumni Association may also nominate an individual or themselves for any of the open positions by submitting a petition, signed by 100 members of the IUAA, no later than Dec. 31. To request a petition or for more information, contact John Hobson at the address listed above or at (800) 824-3044.

Upon the selection of nominees, a canvassing committee -- chaired by Nicki Houston Bland, BGS'97 -- will supervise the election. Bland, alumni programs officer of personal enrichment and philanthropy at IUAA, will be joined on the committee by Michael T. Mann, BS'91, and Suzanne Frechette Phillips, BS'79, MS'82, EdD'89, JD'98.
