Timmy Global Health founder to speak at HPER as Marian Godeke Miller lecturer

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- While completing more than 80 medical mission trips to 23 countries, Chuck Dietzen -- aka "Dr. Chuck" -- has learned that ordinary people can have an extraordinary impact.

Dietzen, the president and founder of Timmy Global Health, will present this year's Marian Godeke Miller Lecture at Indiana University Bloomington's School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Mobley Auditorium (HPER C100).

Dietzen will share the experiences that helped create his vision for making an impact on global health care.

A pediatric rehabilitation specialist, Dietzen founded his Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization in 1997 to expand access to health care in the developing world while empowering students and medical professional volunteers to tackle pressing global health challenges.

Through its current work in Ecuador, Guatemala, Nigeria and the Dominican Republic, Timmy Global Health seeks to strengthen community-based health-care initiatives by educating and investing in partner organizations, providing financial support and facilitating medical teams to serve communities.

In addition to his work in global medicine, Dietzen is also the co-founder and chief medical officer of iSalus Healthcare, medical director of Easter Seals Crossroads Rehabilitation Center, management consultant for St. Francis Healthcare System and medical program consultant at IU's Bradford Woods.

Aside from his professional experiences, Dietzen's concern for children has shaped a life where his patients are his heroes, inspiring him to give kids with disabilities an arena to show their abilities.

The lecture series is made possible by the support of William Miller, a Lafayette physician, and his wife, Marian, for whom the lecture series is named. Marian Miller is a School of HPER graduate who has been active in numerous civic and educational organizations, both nationally and across Indiana.
