FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 20, 2012

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The inaugural symposium for the IU Maurer School of Law's newest journal, the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 30, at the law school, 211 S. Indiana Ave., Bloomington.

The symposium is titled "Whither Social Equality?" It will feature three panels of distinguished legal scholars from a wide range of disciplines who will explore the state of social-equality thought in 2012 and address a variety of forms of (in)equality, including race, gender, class and sexual orientation and their intersections.

Established in 2011, the Indiana Journal of Law and Social Equality serves as an interdisciplinary academic forum for scholars, practitioners, policymakers and students to contribute to society's understanding of legal and policy issues concerning social equality. The goal of this new online journal is to provide a forum for leading scholars and practitioners to improve race and gender relations, foster new research in and across the disciplines and provide the intellectual foundation for the pursuit of social justice. The journal's first issue will be published in the winter of 2012.

The symposium is free and open to the public. A complete listing of events can be found on the journal's website: www.repository.law.indiana.edu/ijlse.
