Construction, traffic updates in advance of IU Bloomington commencement ceremonies
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 2, 2012
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Visitors to this weekend's commencement activities at Indiana University Bloomington should expect traffic delays and choose recommended alternate routes of travel during ongoing construction across campus.
IU Bloomington has several summer construction projects that may potentially impact pedestrian and vehicular traffic flow. They include the expansion of the State Road 45/46 Bypass, the heavily traveled two-lane bypass that serves Assembly Hall, site of IU Bloomington's 2012 graduate and undergraduate commencement exercises.
The graduate commencement ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, May 4. The undergraduate commencement ceremonies will be conducted on Saturday, May 5, in two sessions, one at 10 a.m. and one at 3 p.m.
Because of construction, Jones Avenue is closed to traffic from the east side of University Apartments to the loading dock behind Forest Quad, affecting those moving out of the Southeast Neighborhood off East Third Street. In addition to fewer parking spaces, there also will be construction traffic entering and exiting three construction sites in the neighborhood.

IU Bloomington officials are encouraging visitors to visit the 45/46 Bypass Construction Updates website and follow @IUTraffic on Twitter for the latest traffic updates.
