"10 Ways IU is Red Hot" on the shortlist for top international honor for the Web

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana University Web site "10 Ways IU is Red Hot" has been nominated for Best School/University Web of 2007 by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. The award, called the Webby, is the leading international honor for work on the Web. "10 Ways IU is Red Hot" was produced by the Indiana University Office of Creative Services.

Winners will be announced on May 1, 2007 and honored at the 11th Annual Webby Awards Gala in New York City on June 5th.

Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times, the Webby Awards honor excellence on the Internet, including Websites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile Websites. The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization that includes musician David Bowie, Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, Internet inventor and Google Chief Internet Evangelist Vinton Cerf, "Simpsons" creator Matt Groening, Real Networks CEO Rob Glaser, and fashion designer Max Azria. "The Webby Awards honor the outstanding work that is setting the standards for the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards. "Indiana University's nominee selection is a testament to the skill, ingenuity and vision of its creators."

The 11th Annual Webby Awards received a record 8,000 entries from over 60 countries and all 50 states.

Rebecca Salerno, project manager and associate director of the IU Office of Creative Services said, "Receiving this recognition is truly an honor. Our goal is to produce outstanding, high-quality creative work for Indiana University, and this award is validation that we are doing our job well. Furthermore, I am also proud to point out that we are the only creative group from the state of Indiana nominated this year."

As a nominee for a Webby Award, Indiana University's "10 Ways IU is Red Hot" Web site is also eligible to win a People's Voice Award. Voting is open to the public until April 27th at https://peoplesvoice.webbyawards.com
