FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 22, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- What do Russian ballet, furniture restoration and management in the life sciences industry have in common? They are all part of IU Bloomington Continuing Studies' fall line-up of courses. For 36 years, Continuing Studies has been offering award-winning lifelong learning and professional development courses in the Bloomington area.
For those seeking to hone career skills, professional development certificate programs, with courses taught by business professionals, industry experts and IU faculty, are available in diverse areas. Most notable is the Managing in the Life Sciences Industry certificate program, a year-long, award-winning course of study designed to educate and train individuals who wish to pursue careers in the booming life sciences industry. Thanks to a major grant that is part of the Strategic Skills Initiative, there are several full scholarships available for this program. Courses begin October 2; call 855-7801 for more information or visit continue.indiana.edu to download an application.
In addition to life sciences, certificate programs in nonprofit management, desktop publishing, and medical coding (offered in Bloomington and Bedford) are running this fall. Other courses include Sign Language for Healthcare Professionals, Discovering the Six Uncommon Sense Principles for Uncommon Success, Dreamweaver 8: The Basics and a variety of Microsoft Office 2007 short courses.
If it's personal enrichment you're seeking, a wide variety of lifelong learning classes are offered this fall, including Limestone: It's All Around Us, Indiana in the Civil War, The Dalai Lamas in Tibetan Culture, Spanish for Beginners, and Wine Culture and Appreciation: An Introduction.
The Fall 2007 Lifelong Learning and Professional Development course catalog is available online at continue.indiana.edu, in your mail, or at locations around town.
IU Bloomington Continuing Studies provides opportunities for adults to engage in lifelong learning. Programs include General Studies degrees, Adult Students Resources, noncredit courses in Lifelong Learning and Professional Development, Mini University and Leadership Bloomington-Monroe County. All programs draw upon the resources of IU Bloomington and are offered on campus and at community locations in Bloomington and the surrounding area.
