FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sept. 25, 2007
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Tuesday morning (September 25), the U.S. Department of Education will release 2007 national and state mathematics and reading assessment results for the National Assessment of Education Progress exam, or NAEP, at 10 a.m. The test, often called "The Nation's Report Card," tests fourth and eighth grade students nationwide.
Peter Kloosterman, professor of mathematics education and executive associate dean of education, specializes in analysis and implications of mathematics data from NAEP. He will be available to respond to questions about how those results, particularly in mathematics, should be interpreted. Common questions involve how Indiana compares to other states and how changes in NAEP scores over time relate to changes in the way mathematics is taught.
Kloosterman can be reached at 812-856-8147 or klooster@indiana.edu. Background information is available on his Web site, https://profile.educ.indiana.edu/klooster/Home/tabid/7099/Default.aspx.
