Advisory: Former Deputy Secretary of State, former Indian Foreign Minister to meet with media at IU

EDITOR'S NOTE: Arrangements have been made for media who would like to interview Strobe Talbott, president of The Brookings Institution and former U.S. deputy secretary of state, and Jaswant Singh, former foreign minister of India, during their visit to Indiana University Bloomington this week.

Singh will be available to meet with reporters from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 10) at the Grant Street Inn, 310 N. Grant St. Talbott will be available shortly afterwards, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Grant Street Inn.

Talbott will give talks in IU's Patten Lectures, both free and open to the public. The first, "Repairs Ahead: American Foreign Policy in the Post-Bush Era," is scheduled for Wednesday and the second, "India, America, and the World," on Thursday with Singh. Both lectures will be held in Rawles Hall, Room 100 at 7:30 p.m.

IU India Studies Program will co-host the launch for Singh's new book, In Service of Emergent India: A Call to Honor (IU Press, 2007), from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the President's Room at the University Club, Indiana Memorial Union, 900 E. Seventh St. Talbott, who wrote the foreward to the book, will join Singh at a book signing there.
