Media advisory: Simon Hall, IU's newest science nexus, opens its doors

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Three years after its construction began, Simon Hall is now open. The architecturally impressive, 141,084-square-foot (gross) structure is Indiana University Bloomington's newest science building. Simon is configured in a way that facilitates collaboration between scientists in the life sciences, physics, and mathematics.
WHAT: A special dedication ceremony featuring Indiana dignitaries will cap Simon Hall's creation.
WHEN: Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m.
WHERE: Simon Hall, 915 E. 3rd St., Bloomington, Ind. 47405 (just north of Myers Hall and west of Jordan Hall)
WHO: Eli Lilly and Co. Chairman and CEO Sidney Taurel is the dedication ceremony's keynote speaker. IU President Michael McRobbie, IU Bloomington Provost Karen Hanson, and College of Arts and Sciences Dean Bennett Bertenthal are also scheduled to speak. Members of the Simon family will also be on hand for comment.
Guided tours of the building will begin shortly after the ceremony, at which time Taurel, McRobbie, Hanson, Bertenthal, and others will also be available for stand-ups.
